Would you be able to attach your form, via the Options tab? I think what you're describing is an issue with the form rules, and it's hard to provide advice without seeing those rules to see what might be incorrect.

Thanks for your answer - the versioning settings werent correct and so existing forms werent updating

No, the error happens when I'm publishing the form. It publishes the form but Infopath comes back with "Unable to verify". And the form becomes inaccessible from the browser, regardless of which browser is used.
Somehow, it appears that if I reduce the amount of conditional sections on my form, it works. I have not ...

It is possible to achieve this by using a ActiveX barcode control. take a look at the ActiveX barcode infopath tutorial. It may help!
