Sorry, I misunderstood your question. A receive data connection to an Access database is going to return all records. InfoPath does not have an out of the box method to make the query dynamic - it will likely require code.

I'm familiar with that part but I'm not sure how to query against the data source. Normally under the data source I have query fields where I can enter data and then run a query. For my access database that portion does not exist. It does exist if I add the Access DB as the primary data source, which i don't want.

Hi - In InfoPath, rules run before code. If you try to use qRules commands on Form Load rules, those rules might run before the code has completely loaded. That's why we added the finishedLoading node - we set it to true from the code once the code is all loaded. So you can use rules on finishedLoading that execute when finishedLoading is true ...

This is the issue with calculated values that include data from a secondary data source. Instead of using a calculated value, use a rule. From reading your post, I'd guess that the rule should go on the amount field - if the amount changes, query the secondary data source and get the percentage, and set another field with that value. Then, you ...

I think when you set up the data connection there is a checkbox you can use to indicate whether the data should load on open - Probably the last the screen in the wizard. I am guessing because I haven't worked w/ database bound forms much, but that is the first thing I would do, walk through the main data connection again and see if there is ...

Okay, so what I am suggesting is:
1. Add a SOAP receive connection to the Lists web service - http://YourServer/YourSite/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx
2. Select the GetList method for that connection
3. Don't run the connection on load
4. In form rules, probably on the finishedLoading node, add a qRules command to change the connection URL for that new ...

***WARNING*** Mass Confusion Ahead
So-ooo, huh?
Currently I "Retrieve data" for the lists using the Data Connection Wizard. I'm not sure how to get from there to using the super secret undocumented listguid parameter with ChangeConnectionUrl. =(
And how do I use the lists.asmx web service? =(
I feel like ...

I am using InfoPath 2010 connecting to an Access 2007 compatible database which is linked to an Excel spreadsheet (easier than trying to connect directly to a spreadsheet). My question is, I don't want the InfoPath form to pull in ALL of the records when i load the form as it seems to waste necessary memory. How can I get it not to ...

Hi Patrick,
thanks for your answer. In the meantime I discovered that the error only occurs if I open the xsn over ist Context Menu ->Design.
If I first open the InfoPath Designer and open it using the open dialog, it works for me. Although I still don't know why opening using the context menu suddenly fails, this Workaround ...
