Query and Access database for records

I am using InfoPath 2010 connecting to an Access 2007 compatible database which is linked to an Excel spreadsheet (easier than trying to connect directly to a spreadsheet). My question is, I don't want the InfoPath form to pull in ALL of the records when i load the form as it seems to waste necessary memory. How can I get it not to automatically load the database and simply query for single records?

I think when you set up the data connection there is a checkbox you can use to indicate whether the data should load on open - Probably the last the screen in the wizard. I am guessing because I haven't worked w/ database bound forms much, but that is the first thing I would do, walk through the main data connection again and see if there is an option to run the query when the form loads.

I'm familiar with that part but I'm not sure how to query against the data source. Normally under the data source I have query fields where I can enter data and then run a query. For my access database that portion does not exist. It does exist if I add the Access DB as the primary data source, which i don't want.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. A receive data connection to an Access database is going to return all records. InfoPath does not have an out of the box method to make the query dynamic - it will likely require code.
