 I changed the GUID of the connection to a different and unrelated list and was able to get owssrv.dll to work. Since the connection GUID is replaced by qRules with the one in the mapping file, I'm up and running now apart from a few debug tasks still left to work out. I suspect the problem is the default view for my target list.

 qRules 4.3, Hilary.  Is the owssrv.dll route supposed to work? I can pursue additional troubleshooting with SharePoint specific resources if this should be working on out of the box SharePoint 2010.  David
