    Updating Data Connection Targets

Is there a technique to bulk edit data connection targets? I often create forms that target SharePoint lists on a dev/test environment and then need to repoint them when moving to production. Not only is this cumbersome, but it looks like the data connections don't retain knowledge of the fields selected, which means I need to keep an old copy of the form open and manually compare them to ensure I have things matching up correctly. Another scenario I'm trying to support is form scrubbing, where I want to share a form with an outside party, but don't want all my internal URLs, email addresses, etc. to be exposed. In this case, it's less important that the form work out of the box than it doesn't include internal info.

Has anyone tackled the above with success? Thanks!

You may want to try using UDCX data connections - they are meant to make this a bit less painful. Now - I've still had a lot of pain here - so your mileage may vary - they seem to work best if you have the same structure for your dev and prod - http://server/site/subsite for both, not one with http://server/site and the other with http://server/site/subsite/subsubsite/someotherthing. I still sometimes have to modify things in the manifest after saving as source files, but at least w/ UDCX I don't have to walk through the data connections again. Oh, and I locate my data connection library in the same named library on both as well.

Set up a little test form with a list data connection, and then modify to UDCX and experiment a bit to see if this helps you out. IP also has a checkbox when you publish to a new location for updating the location of the ShP data connections - that is worth experimenting with as well. Again - I encourage you to try this with a simple test form and get a feel for the steps prior to changing one of your actual forms. :)
