Add document links on form libraries

Under SharePoint 2010, if I go directly to a form library set to show the full toolbar and click on the "Add document" link, I correctly get a new form to be filled out in my InfoPath client. If I take this same library and add it as a web part to a page (so that I can combine libraries, lists, instructions, etc.), the "add document" link takes me to the Upload Document dialog. My web searches turn up multiple hits where people have come up with extended JavaScript or ASPX changes to make this work which, as code insertion requirements, are currently off limits to me. My solution so far has been to either turn the toolbar off and provide a direct link (which is a bit suboptimal as the user is prompter to click OK), or to provide a full toolbar and try to instruct users to click on the "new" menu selection and not use the "add document" link.

This seems like a really goofy design decision from SharePoint. Am I missing an obvious way to have the "Add document" link behave consistently (opening up the form template) wherever it is displayed?

    David
