Im using Infopath 2003. On the info path application, I created a Custom Control (Microsoft office Spreadsheet 11.0) . In that custom control, I'm using SQL data connection and select query.

Looks like this is another bug MS needs to fix in 2010. I found one hotfix link from MS, doesn't help me but for reference for others. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925429/ My problem got resolved by the solution provided above which stat to replace "col span width" with <td style="Width > attribute.
