Hi!
I'm a noob.
I am designing an InfoPath 2010 web form that submits to a SharePoint 2010 List. The template I am using was generated by SharePoint, if that matters. I want a special kind of validation: I wish to cross-reference the instances (Value .) of a group/repeating field (multi-choice/plain list control) to previously ...

At least in 2010, it was not so.
You have to be an administrator only to approve administrator approved forms.
These are usually the form templates with external data connections (and/or heavy code behind) requiring Full Trust and code signing with a certificate
And, as far as I can judge from my experience in Office 365 (Sharepoint 2010 ...

And also - are you using conditional formatting to hide rows or are you using a filter on the repeating table / section? I re-read your original question, but don't see that info - not sure if that matters or not...

In SharePoint 2007, if you wanted to use a infopath form in a web part you needed to publish that form to Central Admin, therefore you had to be a farm administrator. Has that changed in SharePoint 2013, i.e. can you publish the form to only a specific site collection or even a specific site?
The SP2007 farm I inherited ...

You could try using a horizontal repeating control, however, this is only available in filler forms.

There is likely some focus issue that is occurring here. It's difficult to debug these sort of things in a generic fashion, but I can offer some ideas that hopefully one of which may work for you.For each option button, go into the properties and set the browser form tab to Never. This will remove postbacks. For each control, set ...

qRules has commands which allow you to leverage the managed metadata service: http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/qRules_new.aspx
But out of the box, there is very limited interaction between InfoPath and metadata columns.
