NETWORK\John.Smith
I used the substring and translate functions like so in a rule:
translate(.,"."," ") turning above^ into NETWORK\John Smith
Then
Substring-after(.,"NETWORK\")
giving me the final desired result, John Smith

Maybe I misunderstand your question, but it seems to me this is very simple to do with a couple of rules
Set up a seperate data connection for each of your libraries
Add a button to your form and label it submit, add a couple of rules to it:
Rule 1:
Condition: Dropdown = option1
action: submit using data connection 1

I've got a problem with the colouring. When I try to colour the background in infopath in grey, it's a table, then I publish the form. After that the colour is not excately the same. Some parts white and some rows are grey. What is the problem behind this?

How are you installing Outlook 2013? Have you tried repairing it or updating to the latest service pack? Maybe the issue is that you have the latest and something broke with a recent release. Works for me.
