Clayton Cobb's blog has a nice example of calling GetUserProfileName. Just Google Clayton Cobb's SharePoint Madness and it should come up.

Yes, you can easily use conditional formatting to highlight the field in yellow. Add a rule for formatting to the editable fields. If the field is blank, you can show he yellow background. If it's not blank, you can choose not to show it - this way they can focus on only what fields are left to fill out. If you're using InfoPath 2010, you ...

You don't need a Web Service for this. qRules includes filterOwssvr function that lets you filter a SharePoint query based on field data in your form. qRules also contains CopyTable and Insert that let you copy the values you query from your query secondary data source into your main data source. Then you can use them ...

Security level = Full Trust!? Please don't do that! That is not a best practice. 95% of all forms do not need to be Full Trust and it complicates and adds cost to your deployment (because you have to sign the form or use an MSI to install it).
You don't need full trust to solve this problem in code. Not sure why Potemkine is asking you to ...

This is a common scenario. We have done very similar SharePoint list data into InfoPath form many times. You'll want to read Jo-Anne's blog which describes a data driven technique using the qRules Insert command to iteratively copy tasks from SharePoint into your form. Another approach would be to simply query the SharePoint list for the ...

Hi Zappke,
Because of the complexity of your question, I recommend a live meeting to walk through your form and demonstrate the technique. the other option would be to have you attach your XSN to the forum and we could look at it. If you'd like to do this, check out Qdabra's Support page. We provide an InfoPath 9-1-1 service and we could ...

Hi Catharine,
You could use our File Picker Control and convert the attachments to links. The links just open the forms from DBXL directly. The File Picker control also has support for adding new file attachments and this is what you can conditionally hide. Check out Mel's blog on the Image Picker Control (which is basically the same) and let ...

Hi Gus,
qRules contains support to update and roundtrip items from a SharePoint list and you could use BCS to map the list to a SQL table but there are limitations: for example, you have to set up BCS, the mapping is tightly coupled, etc.. In general, we recommend using Web Services to submit to SQL directly. Qdabra's DBXL Web Service has ...

Well, I know it's a bit of a hack, but just add a bunch of rules to your first dropdown list that sets a separate hidden field to be true if any of those SuppCats are selected. Then, add a conditional formatting rule to your "Fine Print" section that comparies that separate field and the second dropdown value and there you have it. ...

Hi James,
You will need to convert to use the InfoPath 2003 Object Model. I'm not sure if that has DrectoryServices or not. If you have <1000 lines of code it's not too hard to do the conversion, but you may spend less money by just purchasing Qdabra's Active Directory Web Service and removing all of the code from your form. This ...
