Hey,
InfoPath is and is not like other Electronic Form packages (ie., F3 Fill, Jetform, Delrina, Adobe and Accelio).
Like the other E-Form packages, the data file is separate from the template.
Unlike the other E-Form packages, when you revise the template (especially adding new or deleting fields from the datasource) older data will no ...

Crazyness. I'll try to keep it simple. I'm trying to understand what might be the cause.
Two forms, one called JOBS and one called VALUEADD.
JOBS has a main data connection to a SQL Server table called ''NEWJOB''.
VALUEADD has a secondary data connection to NEWJOB from which I query data from NEWJOB through custom code.

I don't understand how your template is affecting the form data. The template controls how the data looks and feels, while the XML should not change. This has, in fact, turned out to be a deal-breaker for us. My supervisors don't see InfoPath as being very reliable - they want something that is guaranteed to work for all users with no tweaking. I've spent a LOT of time on this form and we're losing a lot of functionality by ''dumbing down'' to SharePoint only, so I'm rather upset about this ...

I have developed a form in InfoPath 2007 and set it to be browser-enabled. I have published it to a shared drive and then as a Sharepoint Admin, uploaded and activated the new form for my sharepoint site. I had to make a few changes to the from and uploaded it 2 more times selecting to update the existing form if it existed. All that worked ...

Thanks, Matt. Yes, storing dropdown info in Sharepoint lists makes sense and I am doing that. But what about the submitted form data? Wouldn't it make more sense to store the info in a db, so when a template is updated the old and new forms would be correct?
Or, am I misunderstanding the point here?
