Date Format In subject via email

I have a form that has a date picker. I have the form being sent via email, in the subject line I have -> concat("New form", " - ", startdate) Startdate is field on the form for that date picker. I would like the email subject to come in as "New form - 4/1/2022", sadly that is not what I am getting. When the forms come is it is " New form - 2022-04-01T00:00:00" - not really a fan. I have selected the date picker, control tools/properties, clicked on 'data format'. Selected the 'Display the date like this:: I have selected the date the shows 3/14/2001 and 3/14/201 and 03/14/2001 and 03/14/01 and even tried 14-Mar-01 I have also tried to select 'do no display time' and a few with just hours and minutes. Sadly nothing is really changing. I am have looked around and not seeing anything that stands out as to why this is not working or even changing. Anyone have any thoughts on what to try or why this is not working. I am thinking its a setting somewhere just not sure where. Infopath designer 2013

You'll need to use substring formulas in your subject line formula to make the date the way you want it. Sample attached, right click the file in the header, save locally, right click the locally saved file and select design to open in design mode.
