 I did actually, here's how I set my links up: ms-infopath:nft|u|https://<sharepointsite>/<subsite>/<library>/<folder>/<form template>.xsn|s|https://<sharepoint site>/<subsite>/<form library>/ 

Well thanks for your help. I'm using InfoPath 2013 from Office 2013 Pro Plus (Not Office 365).

 Ok, turning on compatibility mode also gives me a download/save prompt.

 That's set correctly. Good idea though.   I don't know if this is a step forward or a step back, but I just tried disabling the Office Document Cache Handler browser helper object, from IE and now it simply tries to save/download the template. This behaviour has remained even now the extension is re-enabled.

 Ok, I've created an extremely basic InfoPath 2013 Filler form, published it to a different library, and tried all the various links that I listed above, all to no avail. Same message I'm afraid. I've also tried in Chrome, and get the same results.

I'm using SharePoint Online (part of Office 365), which as I understand it is basically SharePoint 2013. Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated.
