The migration tool seems to be resetting the list IDs which is why the form doesn't retrieve existing information on load. Luckily it was a trial version of the migration tool. We will be looking at the backup and upgrade of the 2010 content database to migrate the content and keep the IDs. Thanks for your help Hilary. Hope this helps ...

Do I have to open the XML directly from the server or can I open a local copy from my hard drive? When I opened a local copy of the InfoPath XML, I got this error message. I am not familiar with the fiddler tool. Can you please summarize the steps needed to run the InfoPath XML using fiddler? Appreciate it.

Which XML file are you referring to? Is it the InfoPath form XML or the mapping xml file?

I deleted the dummy/extra list item and that fixed the error message. Now I get no error at all when I submit the form and the list doesnt get updated either. Anything else I can look for?

There is no item with that ID in the list. Also after the upgrade, do I need to redo the mapping xml file using the filler, if the site URL has changed?
