QRules Form Library Not working Post SP 2013 upgrade

Hi, We recently upgraded our SharePoint system to 2013. The form library with the qrules injected forms are not working after the upgrade. Current information cannot be updated using the qrules forms. We have about 240 forms that use qrules. I even tried changing the data connections, remapping the fields using filler, adding the xml file and re-publishing the form. This allows new data to be added to the lists but previous data just cannot be updated. Can you please help? Thanks.

Hi - can you put the Qdabra Rules error node on the form temporarily and let me know what the error is when you try to update?

How do I add an error node to the form?

I get this error message. Failed to find list item for SharePoint List "listname", Id: 420

Okay - can you verify that the item with the id number of 420 is still in the list? Your upgrade didn't change any ID numbers, did it?

There is no item with that ID in the list. Also after the upgrade, do I need to redo the mapping xml file using the filler, if the site URL has changed?

The mapping file will need the site URL updated if that is now different, yes. If the column names have changed, the mapping would also need to be updated.

If an XML has values in the field mapped to the SharePoint list ID, qRules is going to try to update the existing item - so if your form has, for example, an item with an ID of "420" and there is no item with that ID in the list any longer, the code can't know what item it should update. Does your list have items in it? Maybe there would be a way via form logic to update the ID field in the form to the correct new ID?

I deleted the dummy/extra list item and that fixed the error message. Now I get no error at all when I submit the form and the list doesnt get updated either. Anything else I can look for?

I think I may be confused by the word "updated" here - I keep thinking you are talking about updating existing list items from the form. Is that the case? I think you said that if you fill out a new form, new items are added to the list correctly?

Yes, I was referring to updating existing list items from the form. So for example if the form has a value "orange" and I changed it to "apple" and submitted it, the list item still has "orange" and the form has "apple". But, if I add a new value lets say through a repeating drop-down on the form(in edit mode), a new item is added to the list. No problems with that.

Thanks - and are you opening existing XML in filler or in the browser?

Have you ever used Fiddler? You could open an existing XML in filler, run Fiddler and see what CAML is being sent on submit (and more info on what the list service is returning) - that can be really helpful debugging something like this.

Which XML file are you referring to? Is it the InfoPath form XML or the mapping xml file?

    The InfoPath form XML.

I am not familiar with the fiddler tool. Can you please summarize the steps needed to run the InfoPath XML using fiddler? Appreciate it.

Sure - download and install Fiddler then open it so it can capture web traffic. Then open your form that is not updating the list item in Filler and execute the submit command. In Fiddler, on the left pane, look for the lists web service URL - Lists.asmx. Select it and on the right hand pane, look for the Inspectors tab. Usually for both the request and response I select XML - you'll be able to see what the form sent to the web service and what it got back - that can often help track down these types of issues. :)
