kapil_kjoshi I appreciate your explanation. I did notice the properties...and will give up. By the way do you know if it is possible to take the data from these fields and pass it to another column/control? I have tried but without success but that only for I may be doing incorrectly. Mind you I am new to SP 2010. Thanks

I created a list in SharePoint and added three columns using person or group control. I set Show Field to display the following information. Name Userid (active server) Office SharePoint duly returned the desired information though I entered only the userid in all three fields.
