it seems changed from infopath 2007 version in infopath 2007, in the properties windows of the image control i can flag the "allow the search for, removal and replacement of the images" properties and the image still be linked. in infopath 2010 the same control always embed the file inside the xml thanks for your support. milko

i suggest to use a repeating section for multiple lines, not a multi row option of the control.
