Hi alex350r,
Before you go writing your own custom web service layer, have you seen our DBXL product? It provides a generic web service layer that you can use to translate infromation from the InfoPath client in the the database, and then back again. On top of this core functionality, there are a slew of other features that allow rapid form ...

Everything is stored in the content DB, but you should be able to get it out via the SharePoint web services. The XSN and the XML files are both serialized to binary and then stored in the Content DB. At least, that's my understanding...

Once you have this setup, you can query with XPath to find all of the <b> elements, and then copy their contents to the other field.
Hope this ...

You will use regular file I/O operations to get a stream from the XML file that you are trying to read. Then you can parse it using one of the XML parsers included with .NET, try this one for starters: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.xml.xmltextreader.aspx

Hi 10basetom,
Looks like you got it working... grats! Are you sure eventObj.Source.text is read-only?

Hi Klaad,
It would be easier to answer this if we could see the code you've already written. However, in C# you will do something like this:
IXMLDOMDocument tempDom = thisXDocument.CreateDOM();
tempDom.LoadXml( "<hous rooms='4'><price perMonth='1000' avoidable='No'/></house>" ...
