Turns out it was user error. They "saved" rather than "Submitted"

I would certainly try eliminating the space character to see if that fixes it.
As an alternative you can use an underscore, a dash, or "%20" which is stranslated into a space character in URLs.

JScript has a sneaky way of doing this that is not commonly known--and something you would certainly never think of on your own...

Something is definitely wrong. There should only be a single <xsf:editing/> node per <xsf:view/>. If you have more than one per view, this is wrong--and bad. I can't say what might be causing it. It would be helpful to be able to track down exactly what is causing the insertion of an additional editing tag. If it is as simple as ...

I hit a snag.
I'm using venali to serve submit forms to multiple locations and their server for some reason messes up the infopath formating. I have selected to only send the current form view [i.e. no data]. The colors, columns...etc all come out as code.
It looks like I have to go back to my fax server. ...

One problem you have is in your push() statement. You are doing a selectSingleNode() when you don't need to because it is already being done by nextNode().

I have a simple form written in 2003 with a submit function that saves the filename as

It may be that the view doesn't change, but the new columns should be there. Try to customize the view and see if the additional columns are present but just not selected.

When i save an inforpath form, its size has expanded.
When i look inside manifest.xml, i see that infopath has duplicated the <xsf:editing></xsf:editing> with the default values in many view.
So the file size grows.
What is the role of this tag ?
When i suppress this tag, the size decreases and my form works also ...
