  Patrick, thanks for the suggestion. What is the trick for creating the XML file in an acceptable schema. I made a simple list in Word 2007, saved it as XML, added it a resource file, but when I create the secondary connection to it  I get an Unspecfied Error.   Dean

The Developer version is free. If you are going to use it in production then it has a small fee. It's way cheaper then creating it yourself.

You might want to check Internet Explorer Security. InfoPath leverages this for trust.  There could be something there. The sites for SRS and SP should all be in your trusted or intranet zones, and you might try both settings as I have seen them behave differently.
