I am browsing around the folders set up and. or used by InfoPath. I noticed an xslt, an smd and other files in some obscure folder. They related to my current InfoPath form, same date and data too.

Anuba, thanks for the reply, as I stated, this option is selected on my SharePoint submit. This first time I submit the form it works no problem, when I open the form again from the library and change some data, submit it again, the data isnt saved and I receive no errors.

OK, well, we have done data driven surveys before. Typically what we do is use repeating sections with repeating sections or tables inside of them. There is some recursion and typically we limit to 4 or 5 levels deep. No need to write code for the XML structure. Make sure you start using XML schema and not the schema derived from a DB or Web ...
