• Re: Creating a Section of a form and replacing it with other forms.

Hilary, I wanted to add a drop down list box that had the 4 Threat levels, but I don't think browser enable forms are compatible with drop down list box. I just have a button on each view and named it by that view(Low Threat, Medium Threat, High...........). When I click the low Threat button, it just goes up and elevate and changes views. ...

I take it you have a field for threat level and it has a value in it related to the current threat level for that form. You can add an open rule that switches views based on the value of that field as well.... Under Tools / Form Options / Open and Save there is a button you can click to add open rules. I think either switching views or ...

  • Automatically checked out form when submitted to form library

I’ve built an InfoPath form that submits to a SharePoint form library. The problem we are having is that when a user submits the form, the library is auto checking out the form and nobody else can see that the form has been submitted to the library, not even site admin. I looked at the settings for the form library and don’t see any issues. I’m ...

  • re: So you want to send an email.....

There is some great info here: www.systemnetmail.com/.../2.3.aspx It says that System.Net.Mail can create an attachment from a stream... I'm afraid I've never tried it though. If you do, and have success, perhaps you'd share your code?

  • Re: Creating a Section of a form and replacing it with other forms.

Hilary, We are unable to download 3rd party software tools on our server. I got a question for you Hilary. I have to design a form that is dynamic; meaning that if I had 4 security levels(Low Threat, Medium Threat, High Threat, Critical Threat) The form would add more fields to the form the higher the security level. The person doing the ...

  • Submit to Access DB after doing a Save As

I have developed a infopath form that submits to an Access database but not all my users remember to submit their data to the database before saving their form as a new file. I need to have the data already in the database in order to perform further work activities. I wanted to be able to have the submit ...

  • Re: Duplicate Attribute when adding a new data connection

Just keeping you updated - I'm still poking away at it. Now it's generating the word document (thanks!!), but it's not populating any of the xsl data - it only displays the parts of the transform.xsl that are not part of an xsl tag. I'm thinking that it's not recognizing the field names. I tried adding a ...

  • Locked Schema Got You Down?

Sometimes we want to create a new template off an existing schema. Microsoft has a great article here (EDIT: that link seems dead, but currently a copy is available here), but for those of you who have already created a form off an existing schema, and just want to know how to unlock it, it can be a bit much to dredge through (also, they ...

  • First, Do No Harm....

... to existing xml files. We've all had to make modifications to production forms, and some of us have failed to test the form with existing xml files until after we've redeployed our changes. I stand among the guilty. I think I thought if I clicked Preview often enough, and entered some likely looking dummy data, all would be well. And ...

  • Re: email submit based on multiple selection list box.

Lucky you, you get to learn about the double eval hack! You'll need to create an email submit connection -- more details on that are available at Office Online, here. In the To field, select the formula editor (fx) and in the formula window, you'll enter something very like this: xdMath:Eval(xdMath:Eval(my:group1/my:field1, ...
