What I'm trying to say is that your list form is going to be storing an ID for the item, which is going to be different in the other list. I suggested you display it as an expression so you can get a better understanding of what may be going wrong. In general, if you put a text box bound to the same field in multiple views, whatever the ...

First, your syntax isn't valid... if the rule is to set the field Requesters_Name, you'd want the target field set in the "Field" portion of the rule builder (see attached screenshot). Secondly, it appears that you are setting the rule on the same field you wish to set. This can be confusing at first, but it is important to ...

I've created a Data Connection to a SP Library and set up a Rule on the relevant field to Set the field as in the attached field. This is the code in the Xpath editor:
Requesters_Name = xdXDocument:GetDOM("Createdby")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:Author/pc:Person/pc:DisplayName

It came up again, so I figure Id post some more info about the problem. One of our DLP applications was causing the form not to publish. We had to disable the DLP for the form to publish.

Wonderful - I hadn't thought of that, so thanks for posting back!

Thanks for your help. I actually just found the "line spacing" feature in the ribbon and that seems to be doing the trick, instead of manually returning to create spaces.

I'd probably use a layout table - then you can leave blank rows where you want space. Usually Browser forms behave a bit better when things are in layout tables. :) EDITED to add: I didn't catch that this was happening in preview and SharePoint - if you are already using a layout table, you may need to set the row size for the blank row, ...

I am trying to space out line items on a form and they appear to look correct in Design mode but when I look at the form in Preview mode, the spaces or returns in some cases are not present. Is there something special that needs to be done other than putting a couple returns after a line item? I am using InfoPath 2013.
Example below:
How ...

I know this thread is old, but I had a similar issue recently and followed Qazi's recommendations. The versioning on the old template was higher than on the new template. So I manually adjusted the version and everything is working now. Hooray!
THANK YOU!

Hi Hilary
The list used in the drop down is systems we use and is maintained on another page if that makes sense. So I need to include the ID number in the Data source/value?
In a connected question is there a reason that a information entered in a Text Box field in one view wouldn't appear in another?
