Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for the reply. I did apply the rules and the view is switching according to the rules but the view is switching only when the user clicks NEW in form library. But the saved form is not opening depending upon the log in. If user1 fills the form and saves it, even if user2 logs in the form open in the user1 view. But ...

I'm pretty sure you're going to need to do the {d ...} thing in order for SQL to accept the date unless that field is a string-type field in the database. Maybe there was a missing quotation mark somewhere preventing the form from opening.
It looks like you're missing a space before output. Try using ' ...

I edited the code to have
{d\'" + HireDate + "'}"
When I tried to preview the form, it failed to open. The error about the nvarchar was corrected by editing the Stored Procedure. I spoke with our SQL guy and he modified the query for me. We also have the code working to the point where it is looking ...

Not the easiest solution, but what you can do is add an attribute called changed to all the fields whose changes you want to track. Then create a rule on each of these fields like this:

You can do this with a Form Load rule. Just open Form Options from the tools menu, and in the Open and Save section, click the Rules... button. From there, you should be able to add the necessary logic to switch views accordingly.

A dropdown control is useless if it is not bound to a field. If there is not a field to store the control's value, the control can have no value.
But what you can do if you really don't want to store the value in the form's main data source is to create a simple "Form Logic" secondary data source from an .XML ...

I want to add dropdown list containing Yes/No I do not want to bind it to a database as i don't need to save the value. I want to ues the value to determine what controls are enabled and what part of a workflow is triggered.
However whatever control (tired check box, option button etc) requires you to bind it to a field.

Probably because you set the rule on itself. Rules fire when something changes on the field where you applied it. To set a vlue on 3rdPartyBudget, you'd need to put the rule on the dropdown field that is being selected that would then fire the data into this field. That's probably the only thing you're missing...
If ...

I have not found a solution so far. As you can see nobody here seems to know either :) I've stopped looking for the moment and decided to collect the data I need in another way. This is an adequate alternative solution for where I'm at with it right now, although I am sure I will need to revisit it when the ...
