Is this trying to save a new or existing DBXL document?
In the SharePoint library, please check the Checked Out To column for the document being saved.

The user has full control over the form library. I'm not sure if the library was one i created manually or if DBXL created it... is there a way to tell?

Please verify the permissions the user has on the form library. Make sure they have contributor access.
Did the form library already exist or was it created by DBXL when saving the doctype?

the field in which you are writing the formula to calculate the sum, just check the box that says update the value when the result of the formula is recalculated

Hi Jimmy- I figured it out. What I did was make an expression box in the footer, under the column I wanted to sum or average. The expression I wrote to sum my TotalErrors field in my filtered repeating table came out as:
sum(@TotalErrors[msxsl:string-compare(@IndexedDate, startDate) >= 0 and msxsl:string-compare(@IndexedDate, ...
