The formula certainly looks like it's alright. Could you try saving, closing and reopening the template? Sometimes InfoPath seems to just get into a bad mood and need a fresh start.

It appears you're missing the substring( at the beginning (that was my mistake), a second left parenthesis after the second eval(, and the fields should be separated by pipe symbols |, not commas.
-
Within those brackets, the XPath is in the context of the secondary data source, so to refer back to the main data source, you need to use xdXDocument:get-DOM():xdXDocument:GetDOM("InfoPath")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/dfs:InfoPath[@Brx_Lot = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:myFields/my:brx_lot]/@Thaw_Date The @ symbol is indeed for referring ...

1. I suggest using the Add Function... button to add the two eval()s, and using the Select Field... button to select the field. the rest of it (the substring and [. != ""], 'concat(";", .)'), ".."), 2) part) you can just enter manually; it shouldn't change.
2. Here again you can use ...

You shouldn't replace the data connections with code. You're likely to run into form trust issues if you do that. One thing that I think you can do is modify the form manifest file to change out the values that you want to conceal from your users, e.g. change the web service URLs to something in the same domain that doesn't ...

Hello,
If by "code" you are referring to managed code (C#/VB.NET), then this will not be accessible to users. It exists in published forms in the form of a compiled DLL. What is it about the data connections that you would like to conceal?
-
In that case, I think the following should allow you to count how many fields with each response there are:
count(//*[starts-with(local-name(), 'gpsresp')][. = 'Pass'])

The comment on that page has nothing to do with InfoPath installation. She is saying that with the default settings, dragging a textbox onto the form automatically creates a field.
Are you creating a list-based form, or a form with a free data source?
-
Almost. I wanted to see the contents of the Data Source taskpane (see where it says Data Source on the right side of your first screenshot?) But this may be enough. Do all the dropdown boxes have a name starting with gpsresp, and are the dropdowns the only fields with names like that?

It seems you have attached a screenshot of the form's layout, but not its data source. I need to see what the data source looks like in order to help you.
