Thank you Hilary.
Actually for some reason now the problem only occurs with one of my buttons. The rules on this are setup to query the GetUserProfileByName service and return the user's preferred name. There is no code in my form. Without exception the first time I press the button it clears all the fields in the section but it works ...

Yep, either with a rule on the repeating table or with a default value on the field. I'm attaching a sample form. Right click the link in the post header and save the form locally. Then right click the saved form and select Design to open in design mode. From there you can preview.
I've taken two different approaches here -- FieldA has a ...

Thank you for your input - much appreciated!
Your idea was my initial thought but I wasn't sure it could be done with InfoPath. Bascially I'm gathering user names of 7 qualified users on creation and later only allowing this group to view and edit the form.(plus those authorized to the library).
In this scenario, the library ...

Hello,
Thank you for your response. I don't think I have articulated my problem very clearly, so I will try to do better this time.
My form is laid out in a repeating table. Right now, there are two fields where the user will have to keep entering the same items repeatedly. That is to say, he or she will have to enter one ...

Add your drop down bound to the first field. Have a rule on the field to set the value of the second field to the first field's value.
Alternatively, set the default value of the second field to the first field....

Hi:
Yup, what you are asking is absolutely possible (um, if an "option table" is a repeating table, bound to a repeating group? I'm not familiar with that term).
Here's a Hello World.
You don't mention which version of InfoPath you are using? If IP 2003, you'll need Visual Studio for managed code, if IP 2007 or 2010, ...

Hi all, first off, I'm not looking for specific code here (unless you're willing to help provide it) but I'm looking for information on if what I'm looking to do is possible through custom code?
I'm pretty experienced when it comes to c# in .net. I'm not very familiar with how c# works in infopath. I was ...

Hello,
I have an InfoPath 2007 form that I am trying to write C# code to do the
following: based on one of the three options a user selects, and then
clicking a button, a repeating table would be filled with several rows.
This repeating table is part of the main connection to the database, it
is not a secondary data connection (I ...

My solution will be have 7 column for these 7 names. and use this to filter data.
1. change your list permission, design a view filter records for login user. then they can only see the items they can see and edit.
2. on your form, check if login user is able to see or edit , otherwise , show a blink view.
