Sorry - I'm just really having a hard time understanding your description of the issue (I did review the link you posted - that all makes sense). I know you can't attach the form, but maybe attach an image that shows the issue under options in a reply?

Generally, if I see this: "The problem is that it will not change, hide, etc at all no matter what I try rule wise and selects the first ID on the list that it is looking at" I'd assume the filter is incorrect or missing.

One of the great things about XPath is being able to select only the nodes we need - so yeah, definitely add a filter next time. :)

Glad you have something that works. In general, you should be able to get any value from the account list if you have the ID, you just need to add a filter when you select the data. If values aren't changing when you expect them to, you may be using rules to set values and the rules aren't firing. One common issue I see is rules being set ...

This depends on a number of factors. Is this a list form? Or a "regular" InfoPath form? Since you mention a form library, I'm going to guess this is not a list form - in which case, what are the properties on the dropdown? Is it storing the ID or the display value? Changing the values in the lookup list would not ...

There is a pause until date activity that I think would work for this - you could add a workflow to the list, create a variable for the date (i.e., class date minus 14) OR you could have a calculated column in your list for the reminder date, either approach should work....
