Oh cool. So in InfoPath designer, we had the option to "demote" a property which would make it writable in the library. We do not have that in FormsDesigner yet, so changing read-only on the field is a great idea.

There is a PATCH HTTP call to SharePoint that sets the ReadOnly-ness of a specified field; this was enough not only to be able to edit properties of the field, but also make it accessible for update via Power Automate. Not the most straight-forward solution, but I've endured much nastier work-arounds.

That was very helpful (that may sound sarcastic, but it absolutely is not), but leads to a follow up:
Fields that were added to the library by FormsViewer (via promoted properties) are readable from a Power Automate flow, but don't show up in the list of fields that can be updated. Is there a way to address this?

Are you using FormsDesigner for this? Or InfoPath? I would use a promoted property for this. The field gets added to the form first. Then, in InfoPath, if you walk through the publishing wizard (i.e., don't use quick publish) you have the opportunity to add the new field as a promoted property in your library. If you are using FormsViewer, you ...

I think part of your XPath got cut off, but I use filtered count XPaths for this kind of thing, too, sometimes, or the boolean function - for example, this returns true if there a no instances of the group where both of these fields are blank: boolean(not(my:group1/my:group2[my:field1 = "" or my:field2 = ""]))

I have an XML Library & a form defined for it. I want to add a field to that form and have it show up as a column in the XML library that it posts to. What is the proper sequence of adding it to the form, the library, and the list of promoted properties (or what to use instead of promoted properties) so that the submitted value is displayed ...

For submission validation, I want to be able to test all occurrences of a repeating section to see if any meet a certain criteria: for example, do any of the dropdowns not have a selection, or do any numeric fields have a negative value.
The best I've come up with is:

Oh, you'll need to set the account name query field in the data connection and run the connection. Here's a copy with those rules added to form load for you. However - I just checked an InfoPath Forms Services form on my SharePoint Online tenant, and I get an error even trying to use this web service. So, there is a good chance this ...

I am just looking to create a sign-off button that will record the name of the user. It doesnt seem to be working I tried recording the username's name by doing this.

Hopefully this will work! I set the URL to the same as the publish location for the form.... What are your plans for the April 2026 deprecation of InfoPath Forms Services on SharePoint Online? If you haven't checked out FormsViewer yet (a product created by the company I work for) you should think about it....
