So after reading about Query fields in your response I did some research and testing and figured out how to achieve the desired result I wanted, so Thank you for inadvertently giving me another option. I still would like to be able to write back to the parent "Req Number" from the child form if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks for the information. I would recommend:
1. Make sure that the site has been added to Internet Explorer's Local Intranet.
2. Does the computer have multiple versions of Office/InfoPath? If so, that might be the issue.
3. Perform an Office repair.

I do not understand why it did not work earlier. The only difference is that yesterday I connected InfoPath 2007 to Visual Studio 2012.

I used to try to launch DAT from Google Chrome. It doesn't work at all (error 404). Then I tried to launch it with internet explorer. Same error. Tried again with Internet Explorer and the DAT opened, but I got this error (see picture in attachment).

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, there isn't a datasource for the dropdown. I've manually added the names to the dropdown as there are only 5 people that were needed to be on it. I then changed the last name in the list.

DBXL client will download the XML forms stored in your SharePoint form library and map them to SQL according to the Database mapping that has been set up in the DBXL Admin Tool (DAT). You don't need to install the server version of DBXL for this scenario.

Ok, that's odd. If you've updated the data connection source data, then the dropdown should be updated. If you make changes to the template and those are the versioning settings, then both the template and the existing xml forms should be updated.
