Did you ever get this problem resolved?

I am trying to create a rule that happens when someone makes a specific choice from a drop down menu. I can do this with input values, etc. but I can't figure out how to qualify the choice in the drop down. Thank you InfoPath gurus for all your help to newbies like me.

I have a webservice that by default returns JSON, i need to add "content-type: application/xml" to the header of my request to force it to return XML to infopath. Any tips?

Sorry, a dumb question I am sure, but I can't get past the autentication window from this site when attempting to grab your sample. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the response. Not exactly sure what you mean here. I also have multiple text boxes on the form and have the respective button hide or appear when they are all filled in.
If I take the date validation part out, the buttons do what they are supposed to do. It is just when I try and add the date validation that the buttons don't ...

(2.) Then get me another drop-down where I select the technological family (Desktop, Mobile, Printer, etc...)
(3.) Then get me another drop-down depending on what you have selected ...

I would suggest trying out the translate function. For example, for the first requirement, you could do this:
translate(field1, " ", "")
where spaces are "translated" into nothing. (removed)
You could use another translate function to translate all uppercase letters into lowercase, to end up with something ...

I would suggest trying intermediate steps to slowly build your total sum. So if your goal is to fulfill two conditions in the sum, perhaps start off with
sum(xdXDocument:GetDOM("Work Order System")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/dfs:Work_Order_System[condition #1]/@Labor_Hours_Total)
then try
sum(xdXDocument:GetDOM("Work Order ...
