ive added the access database as a secondary data source in infopath 2003. After creating the textbox and clicking on properties --> data validation --> add, i can only select 'field 1' under 'select a field or group'. sorry if it sounds dumb. im new to this. thanks

Yes, It is possible.
For that you have to take one secondary dataconnection to the Access database which has the tables you required to make the validation.
After taking the connection put one validation condition(by using data validation under the text box properties which you want to validate) as if the entered text is not matched with field ...

We decided to create a standalone form for querying patient records because it's a needed function on its own. Since I'm no longer using a secondary connection, I'll summarize and then move out of this thread.

WickedShark,
Are you using text fields or rich text fields? I am able to copy single lines or selections of text in rich text boxes and paste into other rich text boxes or text boxes without trouble. However, I am doing that in InfoPath 2007 Beta, so it could be an issue with InfoPath 2003!

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, shirazcupala. That's going to save me hours!

Hi,
What do you want to select, select the entire form that they have filled out?
In InfoPath you cannot really do ''select all'', this does not function like MSWord or IE page.

Hi Meg,
One thing you can do is to display the data as a repeating table data instead of bulleted list.
If you add the data as a repeating table you can filter the data using the filter option available for repeating table.
