form corruption with copied text from emails

I having a weird issue where my tables, sections and groups are getting corrupted in my forms.

This appears to be happening when I copy formatted text (bold, highlights) from and email to a rich text field, within the form.

The form seems fine until we move the forms location or rename it. What happens is some of the tables and sections are getting placed in another section, which corrupts the form. When i open it up in notepad, the forms formatting is all messed up. Weird text formatting tags. Seems to be a copy and paste issue, from emails.

After I delete the messed up code, between the tags, the form is fine but I lose the data that was in that field.

    anyone having similar issues???

it doesnt seem to be consitant either... I cant duplicate the problem everytime..

    thanx

Have you tried pasting the text into a text file (or a word document using the "paste special" command) as unformatted text and THEN copying & pasting that into the form to verify that it is indeed the formatting that is messing it up?

Are you doing this in the Designer or Editor?

Its happening in editing mode, not design mode. When the user fill out the form on thier end.

here is a sample of the notepad text of a working form

    </div>
    <div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0in; MARGIN-TOP: 0in; PADDING-LEFT: 0in; FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0pt"><font face="Arial" size="2"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">text</span></font></div></div>

here is a sample of broken form

    </div><div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0in; MARGIN-TOP: 0in; PADDING-LEFT: 0in; FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0pt" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <font face="Times New Roman"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"/></font></div></my:AssetNotes>

it looks like the <span> tag gets corrupted.

its not consistant and yes I have tried the "copy to notepad" method and all those forms seems fine... so I believe its a text formatting issue

as well as the text becomes one long paragraph, instead of a formatted paragraph like a normal form, in notepad

the text is being copied from emails within Outlook...btw

any suggestions?.... is this a bug???

    amv101,

Yes in the HTML of the snippet you posted from the broken form the html is missing the </span> tag. It's also missing a 2nd </DIV> tag which could be contributing to the issue too.

Since it's happening sometimes as you said and not all the time I might look at the different Outlook clients of the people this is happning too. Is there something in the email format (text vs. html email for example) that could be causing this problem? Is it the way people are copying the text (perhaps copying only part of text from a section and the rest of the tags are getting dropped out?) Could it be the specific source of the email, the client that is sending the email is messing up the HTML?

I looked around for a specific bug in InfoPath in the rich text field and didn't find any so that tells me if it is a bug it's not terribly common. At least it doesn't appear to be common!

    Hope that helps
