    Lookup field issue

All, New to this site, but follow a lot and learn a ton. I am trying to figure out an issue. I have a form that I am building that tracks financial data. The lists that have been provided to me are crazy to say the least. I am trying to get my customer to streamline some and consolidate lists so that lookups are limited. I have a Customer List and a Unit Account List. The customer has been using the Unit Account list dynamically for 3 years now so it is LONG. SO the Customer list has a lookup to the Unit Account. I am have tried everything and all the posts that I found - even the one that specifically tells you to turn an item to "calculated value" Do theref to ID and so on. I can get that to work but it comes in and does not change. I have done this tutorial: https://www.premierpointsolutions.com/training/help-and-how-to-articles/get-infopath-to-display-lookup-column-value-not-id/ Get it to work but again the informatin shows up and will not change. The idea is to have a customer baseline list that has data to what they currently have inventory wise. That will relate to specific fields. When I select the UNIT Account from the dropdown, it will populate the data. Problem is I need the Unit account to show and not the ID. Any help to what I am missing as to why the solution above will not change when a new Unit account is selected would be awesome. Thanks Doc

Any chance you can attach the form in a reply to the Options tab? I can give you a hand with this.

Sadly due to my line of work this form is on a closed system that I cannot supply. Sorry I think that I have a solution that will work for now but am all ears to anything you can write back with. BEst

Glad you have something that works. In general, you should be able to get any value from the account list if you have the ID, you just need to add a filter when you select the data. If values aren't changing when you expect them to, you may be using rules to set values and the rules aren't firing. One common issue I see is rules being set on the wrong field - people will set rules on the target field, instead of on the field that is actually changing. :)

Hilary, I can get the value to display as described on this :https://www.premierpointsolutions.com/training/help-and-how-to-articles/get-infopath-to-display-lookup-column-value-not-id The problem is that it will not change, hide, etc at all no matter what I try rule wise and selects the first ID on the list that it is looking at. The BIG issue is that the stuff I am working with (inherited) has a user who had no idea what they were doing, but are so far down the rabbit hole that it is hard to get back out. example - they literally have 30 lookups on one list. UGhhhhhh to say it politely. Like I said though, I can get the ID to display the proper text, but cannot figure out why I cannot make it NOT show until the right selection happens on the dropdown

Generally, if I see this: "The problem is that it will not change, hide, etc at all no matter what I try rule wise and selects the first ID on the list that it is looking at" I'd assume the filter is incorrect or missing.

I wish that was the case. ;) So the roll out was this. Scenario: 1. List with a bunch of items - call this "baseline." The list has lookups (lots) that go to a "customer list." There is one for example that is "Agreement Number" that relates to the another list that is called "Agreements." I can get the thing to show by using that url I sent you. I am taking the agreement field on the customer list (where it was looking at the agreement of a lookup from a lookup. That then sets the ID is equal to setup. The thing pulls no matter what.

Sorry - I'm just really having a hard time understanding your description of the issue (I did review the link you posted - that all makes sense). I know you can't attach the form, but maybe attach an image that shows the issue under options in a reply?
