Does anyone know of a way to get the members of an active directory distribution or sharepoint permissions group into an InfoPath 2010 form? I would like to build a list of users when selecting a group from a person/group picker in an Infopath form. Thank you,

Hi Hilary, Thanks for sending this link. The author's instruction from the link you sent wasn't very clear. However, using pieces of his post and another I found I was able to complete my objective. Now that I have pulled in the SP group members into my IP form as a repeating table, is there a way I can add repeating fields to capture input related to each group member? When I bind my repeating table to my getmembers data connection, I can add fields but when I input data it repeats for all members in the list. See attached. Thanks.

You are adding fields to the schema for the SP group members data source? The field needs to be in the same repeating group to work correctly - if you need to save / submit this data, you'll have to copy the group members into your main data source.

Is there a method to bring the group members into a field in rows in second repeating table?

Code, qRules or default data. With default data, you just include by default as many rows as you'll think you need at the max, and use a formula to set the values. I'm attaching a sample of this technique. :) Check the FormLoad rules, the default data settings (under the Data tab in the ribbon) and the rules on the "set" field.

Thank you Hilary, you are always so helpful. Unfortunately your file won't open for me. I get an error saying it was created in a newer version of InfoPath and I'll need to install the latest version of InfoPath. Unfortunately, my enterprise admins aren't going to allow that. Can you duplicate the form in IP2010?

Hilary, I am now trying to do the same thing instead using a SP list. Rather than use a SP group to feed my repeating table, I am going to publish an excel spreadsheet to a SP list. I then need to pull the list items into my repeating table. Is there a different procedure to do that, our will the process you demonstrated in the DefaultDataWithRules2010.xsn work? Thanks.

The same basic approach for copying secondary data into the main data source will work. Insert the max number of rows you think you'll need under the default data setting. Add a rule to trigger setting the values - then set them. I usually set an ID field and set the other fields with that as a filter (as in the demo form).
