    InfoPath Design Help

HI All, I need assistance on a project that I'm having a little problem starting. It's a SharePoint 2010 and InfoPath solution but should work in 2013 as well.

It's a process that allows for the approval of projects at three levels based on funding (Park, City and County).

The parks can pick any number of projects, fix the fields, update bathrooms, add swing sets, etc., they want to work on if it's within their budget.
Once the park picks and prioritizes their projects to work on, they add an associated cost to each project. If the total cost is more than $50K, it gets sent to the city for approval. A city can have many parks that have multiple projects. The city prioritizes all the projects across all the parks in its city and decides which projects should be approved. If the total is more than $500k, it goes to the county for prioritization then approval. If it gets approved by the county, then parks with approved projects can begin planning for their projects completion.

The part that I'm having a problem with is the prioritization.
The form that I create for the parks to enter their project, will have a repeated control to capture their project and cost.

2 questions: 1- How can I show all the rolled up projects from all the parks to show in the cities form for prioritization?
2- What can I do in InfoPath to all each level (the park, the city and the county) to prioritize projects from most important to least important. At the city level, they can have a ton of projects to prioritize. Not sure how to approach that.
3- How can I store the repeated data in a separate list but still associated with the appropriate project?

Any help/insight/suggestion would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Any ideas?

All of this is going to be very hard with just InfoPath and SharePoint, I'm sorry to say. You are really going to have to get the repeating data out of the form in order to do things like analyze and prioritize it.... but submitting data from InfoPath to a SharePoint list requires code or third party tools... I wonder if you could use a SharePoint list form customized with InfoPath? You could set the form to manage multiple items, and then do some formatting stuff to make it seem less clunky (i.e., not have to enter your park on every row, etc.)

I saw a video of using CAML to submit repeated data into a SharePoint list but I'm not quite clear on the steps. Once the caml is created and loaded into InfoPath, I'm not sure how to link it to the list that captures the repeated data.

The submit connection to the UpdateListItems web service will have parameters you can set for the list name, etc - you'll need a field in your form (or in another data source, I often add the field to the CAML xml file outside of the Batch node) to select when you set up the submit connection.

I've been battling this all day.
Could we take it back a few steps before the CAML? I'm missing something somewhere.

So, I create the following rules "Submit Form to SharePoint Library" as mentioned in the video, then I create "Query Form ID" (this is where I'm having a few problems)
I am having problems following how those rules were created from the video("Query Form ID", "Trigger Loop for Item Submit", "Resubmit Form with Item Data"). It looks like you have done this before. If you don't mind, could you please share the steps?

Here's what I'm trying to do, get back the ID of the submitted form and use that id in my list of repeated data. (Parent child relationship)

My form is also attached. Any help/guidance/reference would be much appreciated.

Is the formName field in the form promoted to your library? It is weird, I don't see it in the promoted properties for the form. Drag your secondary data source onto the form and click your button and see if your query returns data.

Yes, my "Form Name" is promoted to my library. See image. I currently only have one item in the library. I was expecting there to be a value in the "Form Name" but I must have done something wrong in the "Query Form ID" rule. Is my initialization of "formName" in Form Load wrong?

When I look at the promoted properties in the template you attached, I don't see Form Name in the promoted properties.

Hi, It was part of my secondary data source. See attached. "Form Name" does appear on my list. Does it need to be a part of the main data connection for it to show in the property promotion window?

You need to promote the field to the library, so that it is populated when you submit your form. Then that field is used to query the library to get back the ID.

Where do I add my list guid so the webservice can use it?

Please ignore my last inquiry. I figured out how to use the listname in the webservice dataconnection. My question now is, how do I get "/batch" to appear for the "tns:updates" parameter?

You have a CAML XML file as a resource in your form and have created a data connection to it? If so, you should be able to select the Batch node from that data connection.

Yes, I have created a data connection to my xml file and here's what it looks like:

When I go through the data connection wizard, I don't see the 'Batch' as an option to select.

Can I see a copy of your form?
