    File Attachment Secondary Data Source

    Has anyone noticed that if you have you cannot bind an attachment control to element unless it is part of the main data source? I have tried several things, including some trickery to no avail.

    Any suggestions...

    The attachment control requires the following PI in the xml document file.
    <?mso-infoPath-file-attachment-present?>
    Have you tried adding this entry in your .xml?

    Hi,
    When you take a dataconnection to an XML file, then InfoPath recognizes every thing as a string, even FileAttachment. So you need to change your schema so that the fields type is changed to Fileattachment.

    Ok, so you saying that when IP infers the schema from the data connection is assumes string. So all I need to do is change the data connection schema paramter back to base64...

    Thanks.

    Sorry for miscommunication above, for 2ds InfoPath does not allow file control.
    This is how InfoPath File Control works, When you add a File Control to the UI, InfoPath will have a reference to this control in the Manifest.xsf. Here is how it maintains the ref:
    <xsf:xmlToEdit name="field1_1" item="/my:myFields/my:field1">
    <xsf:editWith component="xFileAttachment"></xsf:editWith>
    </xsf:xmlToEdit>

    One thing InfoPath doesnot allow is references to 2ds Elements in Manifest's "xmlToEdit" fields. So indirectly it is restricting FileAttachment to only main dataconnection.
