I have a repeating table of 3 columns. Each column contains a drop down list that is bound to a secondary data source (sharePoint list). As new rows are added to the repeating table I would like to have the drop down lists auto populate their values to the value from the row above...how? thanks in advance.

Wow -- I just answered a question on this yesterday, and added a sample form to my post. The sample defaults to the first row, not the one immediately above. This sample, though, defaults to the one above. I think between the two of them, you'll be able to get this working. Give it a try and holler if you get stuck, okay?

Double Wow! Thanks for the quick response...but I have a complication. I'm using drop down boxes (bound to a secondary data source...a sharepoint list) and I want the user to select from the list for the first row but then (to make data entry easier) I want that second row to default to what they entered on the first row. In the example you provided you are using data entered into text boxes...and I understand that example. You are using the "preceding-sibling" formula in the default value of the text box...but in my drop down boxes I can't use that mechanism because there is no "default value"...but maybe I am wrong on that. So how would I implement this for a drop down box bound to a secondary data source? Would I include preceding-sibling as a filter? thanks.

You can set a default value on the field the control is bound to -- right click the field in the data source task pane and select properties....

OK, once I submitted the form and open it again...all of the drop downs have defaulted to the same as the first line. Can I put any rules or logic so once the form is submitted the default value does not get used?

Hi golenskd, open up the dialog boxes where you set Default Value and make sure that the "Update value when result of formula is recalculated" box is unchecked.
