I am working a Service Interruption reporting form to allow sysadmins to idenitfy the affected item or system from a drop down list. Currently the source data comes from 4 different sources:
Circuits are from a sharepoint list, Servers & Network devices are from a SQL DB, Services are from a sharepoint list. Since the Service Interruption must list standard information for the affected equipment [Network, System/Service Name, Device Name(s)] I am looking for a simple solution to allow sysadmins to select the standard information from any of the sources.
I started with a view that captured common info (start, stop times & user info) with a set of buttons for each type of Interruption [Service, Server, Network, Circuit] and link a new view to each button that collected the data.. It worked for the first view; I was able to select values from the Circuit connection and they would store in the Network, System Name, and Device Name fields. When I starting building the second view, I couldn't find a way to store the Server info in the same fields without replacing the Circuit connection info.
Is there a simple way to select the connection source based on the value of a field or the pressing of a button?
Worse case I can just create different form for each set of techs, but I would rather keep it as a single form.
Thanks,
