    disable submit on close?

I've setup my form to show a submit button only when specific conditions apply.  I've disabled the submit button from the toolbar.

However, when users close the form using the X on the form, Infopath asks them if they want to submit the form anyway.  Can this be stopped?

    Thanks!

This is in the Advanced submit options.  Or in Form Options could be the Save and Save As is checked on depending on which message they get.

I have the save/save as "unchecked".  I have the "show submit menu item and the submit toolbar button"   "unchecked" as well.

Thus, they can't use the save nor the "submit" toolbar.   But, if they open a form, make a change to it, the hit the X in the upper right corner (the close form), it then asks  "Do you want to submit formXX"

I don't want them to be able to submit unless they have used the submit button on the form itself which has validation attached to it.

     Can this be stopped?

I don't see anything in the advanced to stop that.  I can uncheck "allow users to submit this form"  but then they cant create use the submit button either.

I believe you do want to uncheck allow user to submit this form and then just have the rules and action on your button that call the submits you need.

It has been a while and I have not verified this but I believe that is how you can remove InfoPath's "are you sure" assumption if the data has changed. You should be able to check it quickly yourself.

The submit actions still work without the default "Submit" configuration.

thanks - I'll try again tomorrow (I'm at home now).  I tried once and it didn't seem to work using a button with rules/action but I can certainly try again.

    Thanks again Clay!

    Re: disable submit on close?

Hello Mr. Fox, with both first sentences you've right. If you deactive in the "Tools" -> "Submit Options" -> "Allow users to submit this form" InfoPath wont ask anymore if a User try to close the Form with entered Data. BUT The bad news ... the CodeBehind Function "Submit()" will be deactivated as well. If you try call it, it will throw an Exception. So i am unable to Submit at all. I still on searching a Solution for this Problem and would be happy if someone would share his Solution with all :) My best Regards THO
