Can not Publish Browser enabled forms

    Hi

I have created one InfoPath 2007 Template that is browser enabled. While Publishing the template I am giving the server address as

http://servername:portname/sites/sitecollectionname. But I am getting the error message : "The Follwoing URL is not valid".

Is there some problem giving the port number in the URL? If so, how can we remove the port number?

     Thanks

    Ved

Do you have any sites on the default port? I am not sure what kind of a setup you have (a farm, perhaps?) but a default standalone SharePoint installation will have a site at the default port 80. If you don't have one, consider adding a site there and see if you can publish there (typically it will be just the root path such as http://myserver).

I am having Single server Setup. No Farms. We have Site at Port 80, but i do not want to use that site. I am working on the site that is craeted on some other port. Can we not publish the template to any other site other than port 80.

Howmany sites can we have at port 80? I am just experimenting the features as a developer. so can not use port 80. Please let me know if we have some other ways.

     Thanks,

    Ved

As far as I know you can have several SP sites (as subsites) on the same port. For example, that's how personal sites work.

For using ports other than 80, I am not sure why you cannot publish. One thing I can suggest (a short in the dark, really) is to publish the form as a feature via Admin deployment (this is done in SharePoint Central Admin) and then you can activate it into any site collection you want. Give it a shot, perhaps.

Re: Can not Publish Browser enabled forms

    Ran into this issue myself.

I was able to publish forms from other computers but not mine.  Some solutions that have been published involve turning off the Systems Event Notifications service but this didn't work for me.  The solution I found came in a comment although it doesn't seem to work for everyone.  I didn't need to set the Server Cache count to 0 but the rest worked:  http://serena-yeoh.blogspot.com/2006/08/infopathformurlnotvalid.html

Piotr L. said... I was one of the people for whom disabling SANS did not make the error go away. However, having battled the problem and searched the Internet for clues (with little results) I decided to do a little troubleshooting of my own. I won't get into details of how I got at the solution, but here is what immediately worked for me , and hopefully will work for other people.

    1. Open regedit.exe, go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\Internet\Server Cache"
    2. Delete all subkeys of "Server Cache" key, they are in form of http://xxxxxxx
    3. Update "Count" value of "Server Cache", setting it to 0.
    4. Close regedit.
    5. Close and reopen InfoPath and try publishing the form now.

    Just remove the port name.

I publish my browser-enabled forms as

    http://servername/site

Then on the next prompt I choose the library I wish to publish the form in.

I have a question relevant to the title: I have all admin privileges on Central Administration and also the site we have our form libraries but still, I get an error saying I donot have admin privileges to activate the form.

I am following the below link and am stuck by the step 18

    http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/janice/archive/2009/03/03/administrator-approved-form-templates.aspx

Can somebody please help me in this regard??????? My form has digital signature attached can that be causing the issue?????

    hello Pcheru,

instead of activating your form from the central admin, try to activate it from your site. Go to the site containing your form library, click Site Actions --> Site settings. In the "Site Collection Administration" column, you should have Site Collection Features. Click that. If not, there should be Go to Top Level Site Settings. Click that and then you should have Site Collection Features. Then find your form template and click the "Activate" button.

     Hope that helps

Thanx Mgarant. Though I am able to activate the form from the site.I still have issues opening it.

Also, when trying to activate the form using "Activate from Site Collection" it throws an error saying "The form template could not be activated to the following site collection: http://xxxxxx. You do not have the permissions required to perform this operation. Only the administrators of this site collection can activate to the site collection. Either add yourself as a site collection administrator, or have a site collection administrator activate the form template." I am the admin on this site collection. Also, the radio button for sharing between farms is selected to NO is this causing the issue???

I don't know if this could cause the issue... try to select yes and see what happens.

Have you checked in the people and groups of your site to see if your name has the full control permission set on? (or something like that that would suggest your the admin of the site)

What issues do you have opening your form?

    Yes.I have full control.

First I am not able to see the form in the site library. And if I try load and activate the form manually it is throwing me an error saying the form is not browser-enabled. The settings were all done previously and I havent changed any settings.

Re: Can not Publish Browser enabled forms

The settings you're talking about are sharepoint's or infopath's? To be able to open your form in browser, there is a check box to check in the infopath settings (forms option --> Compatibility --> Design a form template that can be opened in a browser or Infopath). You also need your list advanced settings to be set as "open as a web page" or something like that... But I assume you already done that?

When you publish, you have a choice to publish as a document library, site content type or administrator-approved form template. I suggest you try the third one (if you haven't done this yet) and activate manually the form.

If you already done all of this, i suggest you delete the form template from you site, delete the list (if it is empty), and start all the process from zero.

Sorry, but I have been doing this all time and just as an FYI,this is an administrator approved form.

There is a Database name associated with the site collection.Do you think I need to have access/privileges on this to be able to use the site collections???

I don't know if it is gonna change anything... but maybe it is worth giving it a try... That is a weird problem you have here... is it doing this with other forms too? Or just this particular one?

Re: Can not Publish Browser enabled forms

I restarted the process from zero and instead of using the "Activate Site Collection" I went and activated in the site. I was able to activate it through and also able to open the form as browser based. Thank you...mgarant...appreciate your time and solutions!!!
