    Thanks.

    The full CAML documentation is located here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnspts/html/sts_delmitems.asp

    However, for this particular question I think you are just going to change the cmd attribute of the Method element to "Delete" instead of "New".

    This is just a guess, but try something like this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Batch OnError="Continue">
    <Method ID="1" Cmd="Delete">
    <Field Name='Title'>_Insert_Query_Value_</Field>
    <Field Name="FirstName">_Insert_Query_Value_</Field>
    <Field Name="Email">_Insert_Query_Value_</Field>
    <Field Name="WorkPhone">_Insert_Query_Value_</Field>
    </Method>
    </Batch>

    This tutorial looked pretty cool, as well:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnspts/html/sts_delmitems.asp

    I hope this helps, and if not, please check out the CAML Query Builder from the link listed above. I would really like to hear what you guys think about it!

    This is what fixed it for me also!

    Re: Add Sharepoint List Items with InfoPath

    I tried this solution. It works well. Except for one Problem:
    I inserted a item to a sharepoint list from InfoPath. It worked fine through the CAML. I created an another view in InfoPath where I tried to update and delete the items in list. Used the Update and Delete CAML. Delete Works fine but Update greys out null values or blank values inserted into sharepoint list and does not allow me to edit those fields.
    Can you guys tell me why...

    It must be because SharePoint is not returning an element for those fields, therefore, the form has nothing that it can store data into. To remedy this you will need to either insert the node yourself or copy over the value that are returned from SharePoint into a seperate template.

    Re: Add Sharepoint List Items with InfoPath

    How can I include drop down menus in the CAML? Or is there another way to use drop-downs and then submit the information from the dropdown to the sharepoint list?

    Hi Oggsct and welcome to the forum!

    Yes, you should be able to use drop-down lists to accept input for your CAML. It might be a little more difficult, however, because you will need to accept input from the DDL into the Main DOM, and then copy that value into the secondary DOM (the CAML template) right before you submit to SharePoint. This is possible via code behind the Submit button, or rules on the same button.

    I hope this helps, let us know if there are any more questions!

    Re: Add Sharepoint List Items with InfoPath

    Hi.

    Thanks for a really great guide. I just knew that something like this had to be possible, but without the guide I would never have gotten this far. However I am having one problem (for now :)).

    I have followed the guide and made all the settings as explained. When I preview the form I can load the data from the list I have selected, but when I hit the submit button I get this error:

    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
    An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
    The form definition (.xsf) file has an invalid mapping from the document to the submit Web service.

    Any ideas on what might be causing this error?

    Hi JMark, welcome to the forum, and sorry for the delayed response!

    It sounds like something has been corrupted after you have changed your CAML template. Try stepping through the add data connection wizard again to redo everything.

    Re: Add Sharepoint List Items with InfoPath

    Hello to all,

    First, thanks to Matt for this great tutorial.
    I have successfully run the contact example, but am having problems uploading an IP Form to a Form Library. When submitting to a Web Service, I get a Success message, but then cannot find the form. When summiting to a SharePoint List the form uploads successfully and is present in the Library, but Form field data listed in my CAML.xml is not passed to the List. (Refresh works fine)

    My question is, having set up a Form Library with a number of Properties, how do I upload an InfoPath Form and populate the Form Properties fields with data from the Form. I think there maybe an issue with the Name and Title field.

    All suggestions welcome, also does anyone know how to upload a Word Document to a SharePoint Library and pass document custom properties to Library Properties.

    Thank You
    James

    Re: Add Sharepoint List Items with InfoPath

    Hi Matt,
    I read your article "Add Sharepoint List Items with InfoPath" and it has been a great help, but I am having one problem with it...

    I am executing the data connection OnPageLoad() to post a value to my sharepoint but all of my required fields on the form are preventing the data connection from being submitted.

    I can clear out all of the errros, but then I can't add them back (it appears there are fundamental differences between the way a user added error and a system generated error behave).

    Do you have any advice about how to temporarily disable the error validation or can you think of any other way for me to create this list item? Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Armand

    Re: Add Sharepoint List Items with InfoPath

    I have been through this exercise a couple of times and sometimes I get the following message.

    The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

    Exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException was thrown.
    <detail>
    <errorstring xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">'Element' is an invalid node type. Line 4, position 4.</errorstring>
    </detail>

    I did have it almost working except it wasn't actually updating my list. I saw that I had a required field on there by the name of title that sharepoint just put in on it's own when I created the list. I thought that that might be the problem so I tried to make adjustments then of course it all fell apart.

    Since then I can't seem to line things up to avoid the error.

    CAML
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Batch OnError="Continue">
    <Method ID ="1" Cmd="New">
    <Field Name='Title'></Field>
    <Field Name='TextColumn'></Field>
    <Field Name='Name'></Field>
    </Method>
    </Batch>

    WSS List - I grabbed an edit screen to show how fields were named and order.

    Title: sdf

    TextColumn: sdfs

    Name: sdf

    Can someone see what I am obviously missing?
