Data inside the comment field is updated even after saving

Hi everyone. I have a form that has a field of type Drop-Down, a field of type TextBox that is inside a group to make comments and a checkbox that enables and disables the Drop-Down and the TextBox. The comments field is to be able to capture the Drop-Down data when the SAVE button of the form is pressed and save it within the group (textbox) so that it works as a kind of minute of the item. The detail that I have is when I enter the item and the Drop-Down at the time of changing the value or index, it also changes it in the TextBox of comments, when it should not do it since the data should not update it after saving it. Any idea how to do so that when the Drop-Down changes the selection, it does not change the data of the comment group? Thank you in advance. Regards.

Here's a simple sample form - right click the link, and save the file locally. Right click the file and select Design. Then you can preview it. I don't quite understand your description of what is not working as anticipated in your form. Perhaps you could attach a sample under the options tab in a reply?

Hi Hilary. Thank you so much for your answer, I have attached an example for you to review. In this case, I don't use an Infopath SAVE button, I use the native Sharepoint SAVE button to save the item. Also uncheck the option for the "Value" box to be read-only without any good results. I hope you can help me, thank you.

I attach this small gif, where I show you a record already saved in the minute field, but see how the data already saved changes as the dropdwon changes, which is not correct, since the minute data should not be change to be saved and read-only.

So, it sounds like you are saying this is a SharePoint list form? And is the comment field rich text with versioning?

Hi Hilary. Yes, the form was created through a list in SP, then it was edited into the current form through Infopath, the Comments field was added in Infopath. The Textbox is not enriched, it is a simple Textbox. The form is attached to you in a response before the GIF.

Re: Data inside the comment field is updated even after saving

So - the issue here is that your calculated value with "REV by" at the beginning of it is using data from the Revision field (field2) which is outside of the repeating history group - looks like your comments field does have change tracking on. So that data is not actually being saved in the repeating group - it is part of the main form data. I think I'd change the form to submit via rules, and concatenate the "REV by" text along with the selection to the beginning of the comment value prior to submitting. It won't layout the way you have it, it will be part of the HistoryValue, but that may be the only way to get the outcome I think you desire. Check this copy of the form - right click the linked file, save locally, right click the saved file and select design. Under the data tab in the ribbon, you'll find the submit options - I changed the form to submit via rules and added a rule that should at least capture the data you want along with any comment from the user. I'll warn you that I haven't tested this :)

Hi Hilary, good day. First of all, I offer you an apology for the delay in my response and I really appreciate your time and effort that you dedicate to answering questions and helping to solve them. Regarding this request, I can tell you to do what you said as a solution, and yes, it worked. What I did was add a rule in the part of "Form Submit", where I send the necessary values to the "Value" field, and I send a concatenation of data that I needed. And that was it. The solution is excellent as you raised it, the truth has not seen since then to be able to do that. I thank you very much for your help and, if I can support something, I am on the lookout for what is necessary. Thanks for everything. Greetings.
