    InfoPath Help.

I'm trying to make an Infopath form that displays the correct employee contact information based on their primary job site(airport), their off days, and their shift. Currently I have it unhiding an employee's section based on whether they are at work at the current time. Bob works 0800-1630 in Green Bay with Saturday/Sunday off. Craig works 0600-1430 in Madison with Saturday/Sunday off. Bryan works 0500-1530 in Milwaukee with Thursday/Friday/Saturday off. Desmond works 0500-1530 in Milwaukee with Sunday/Monday/Tuesday off. So if a call is placed for Milwaukee at 1200 on Friday, I'd like to specify that Desmond is primary because he's currently working and it is in Milwaukee. If the call had been for Madison, Craig would be primary, and Bob as primary if it had been in Green Bay, etc. I'm having an issue with setting the rules in place to accomplish this feat, any help would be appreciated.

So - are you using a SharePoint list or something with this data? Or is it just hardcoded into sections in the form & you want to determine what to show / hide based on other selections?

For me, with conditional formatting, sometimes it is easier if instead of setting sections to hide, I change the color - so I can see what condition is being applied. Please feel free to attach your form under the Options tab in a reply if you'd like me to take a look. :)

I have been trying to use conditions to hide sections, yeah. I'll try to upload what I have so far. I'm not sure how to use lists or anything, so I've just been trying to get it down with conditions.

Attached is what I have so far. I currently have sections containing the primary and secondary employee listed, and was intending on hiding all but the correct one using rules. I am open to any work around possible. I have sections that display the date, time and day of the week along with some hidden sections in order to display them correctly. Thanks for the help!!

Thanks for bringing this back to my attention, I hadn't seen you attach the file! I'll take a look. :)

Okay, I only did the first section, and I set it to highlight instead of hide (so you can see how it would hide based on different day / time combos). Save the attached locally, right click and select design, then preview to try it. Since we need more than 5 conditions for hiding, I did use an expression for the last condition....

Thanks for the reply, Hilary.  Do you have any idea how I could make it select the correct person(based on a sort of tiebreaker based on airport selected) that would choose the correct person if their days off and times work intersect.

For example, a call is placed on Thursday at 1200 in Milwaukee.  The days off and shifts would allow for Bob, Craig, or Desmond to be selected, but I'd like it to choose Desmond, as he is located at the airport calling.

I included airport in the formatting on the first section?

I apologize, it's hard for me to explain. I can't do a blanket hiding of a section based on airport alone, because there are some situations where Desmond may have to respond to Madison because it's before Craig's shift starts, etc. So I was hoping to have the airport selection be the ultimate tie breaker. For instance, noon on Thursday, it could be Craig or Desmond - until Milwaukee is selected, then it's Desmond for sure. It's hard to explain.

I see. So based on just time and day, many sections might show, but if you select the airport, only one section would show? I can try to take another whack at it - it will be later today.

    That would be great, thanks.

This just seems so unwieldy. I took another look at it, and it seems like with this approach you are going to end up with a TON of these sections. Wouldn't it be easier to have this info in a secondary data source, and just have a rule to hide rows that don't apply?

I'm totally open to any ideas of how to get it done. I'm just pretty new at this and am unsure of a lot.

I've been trying to figure out how to use the secondary source, or even compile the secondary source and have not gotten close to an answer.. Any tips?
