Create a view that displays only checkboxes that have been checked

Hi!  I am a beginner InfoPath user and I am stuck.  I have a survey form that lists periodicals for several departments.  Some departments can have over 20 periodicals listed.  What I've tried to do was create a Summary View to display only those periodicals selected, preferably under their Department.  I initially created a checkbox control for each periodical and copied the survey to the Summary View and tried to create a formatting rule to "Hide this control" if it is equal to FALSE.  However, that feature was disabled when I tried to check it.  I then tried to set up each department as a section and created the same formatting rule.  My result was that it hid the entire section, even when I added the rule to each control.  I fiddled around with other scenarios, but to no avail.  My last attempt came close to what I'm looking for (at least I think).  I used the Multi-Selection Listbox for each department and copied it to my Summary View.  However, when I click just one checkbox in the listbox, all of the boxes are checked.  What did I do or did not do?  Any guidance you can give would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    DEPT 2

For me I'd have the following:

You can have a summary view. The department title is in its own text box. However each department questions is in its own section.  Therefore you can have a rule on each section to hide or show an answer depending on the answer selected on the original screen.

On the original screen you could have a drop down box, with yes/no display values, yet the actual values are 0 and 1. I find this makes subsequent rules easier to write.
