Open a custom InfoPath form(on browser) from an item on a list

     Hi,

    1. I have a Share point list(SP 2010)

    2. I have build an Info Path form(IP 2007), and uploaded it to the SP site, I added some code behind(c#) to the form(which is browser compatible) to insert data into that list, when submitting the form.

    3. I created a view on the Share point list so each user can see only the records he created.

    I have a few questions:

Q1. Is it possible to edit the data from the Info Path form that I have built? if so, how to do it? the scenario should be: clicking an item on the SP list, viewing the data on my custom IP form and being able to edit/resubmit it.

Q2. Is it possible to save the form and the data to the list(even a solution with code behind is applicable for me). What I mean is like saving the physical form on a SP location, and its' data to the SP list.

Q3. I can display a repeating table with the list, the list is shown, but it's not being filtered per user. how can I do it? I tried to take the GUID of the view, but it doesn't work.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dani.

Hi Daniweb and thanks for posting,

A1: yes, you can do this. Qdabra's qRules supports both mapping an InfoPath XML to a ShP list form and refreshing values from it. We have a bunch of how-tos and videos that show this. There's a free trial. Of course, you could write your own too, but qRules is ultra cheap and we'll give you an extended trial if you need to vet out over the next 3 months or so. :)  of course, it's browser compatible for SP 2007/2010 (easier for 2010 since you only have to be a site collection admin vs. admin approved form for 2007)

A2: yes, that's what the SubmitToSharePointList command does. But, doesn't your code behind do that too? qRules works with any form and it's data source agnostic so you don't have to worry when your form's data source changes. Just update the qRules command to use the new xpath and you're good.

A3: you can filter using InfoPath 2010 (out-of-box) or you can use a REST Web service to do this, or you can even use qRules FilterOwwsvr command. Lots of options here.

Good luck! Let us know how we can help further. Send us email. :)

Hi and thanks for the reply,

Unfortunately  I Can't use non in house development tools, because I'm working on a secured environment and each tool should be examined for ages before inserted here.

I hope there are other ways to implement it.

regarding A2: SubmitToSharePointListsave the form and the data to the list? my code only saves the data to the list, not the form itself, I'll be happy if you could link me to a proper site with some info.

regarding A3: I'm using info path 2007, is it possible to o it?

thanks in advance for you effort,

    Dani.
