From a users perspective, nothink has been changed in the form to warrent a warning message like this. In fact, this may lead to confusion and the user may return to the form to check if anything has changed instead of closing the form. I can imagine that something is possibly changing in the sesion state went the view is changed.

I would be most grateful if anyone could help me understand how this happens, why and if there is any way to prevent the warning message? Not much then!!

    Thanks

It is a bug, just one and not the most annoying one amongst many others in Infopath

I've been trying to figure this out lately too - it seems that IPFS considers the form to have changed (even if the data hasn't changed) any time it has to post back to the server. The only thing I can think of is to disable Save / Save As and use Submit rules. You could add a close button to the form that closes with no prompt and just not display the ribbon at all.

Very true if not that helpful in this case. Cheers for replying Gennady.

Thanks for the replay Hilary. Your right the change must be saved in the session state when the view is switched by the user. Although, when using an Is Dirty form template from Alec Pojidaev's and changing the view did not reveal any change in this status.

Unfortunately your suggested work-around don't apply in this case as my form is read-only. If there was another way for the user to close the form that might avoid the message being displayed?

    Thanks

It is specifically the button (or the picture button) that causes the prompt. If you have just a button, no rules, then clicking it is sufficient to cause the message to appear when you close the form, so it may be the button_clicked event.  On the same form, you can switch views using the Views dropdown in the toolbar and there is no problem.  This doesn't seem to be fixed with InfoPath 2013/Infopath Forms Services 2013 either.
