    Email Completed Infopath Form

Hello. I am an InfoPath newbie, so please bear with me. I have a form that I designed in InfoPath 2003. I have published this form as a template in a SharePoint library. What I need is for the user to be able to go to the SharePoint library, open a new blank form, complete the form, click Submit on the form, which files the document back into the SharePoint library for record keeping, but also emails a read only copy of the completed form to a predetermined email address for further action based on the contents of the form. The form's Submit button has the following custom code applied function SubmitButton::OnClick(eventObj) { XDocument.Submit() Application.ActiveWindow.Close(); } I have two data connections set up, one called EmailSubmit, which contains the destination email address, and Submit, which is the data connection to the SharePoint library. Under the Submitting Forms options, I have Custom submit using rules selected. There are 3 rules. One to set the value of a field to "View" so that i can trigger the visibility of a section so that it is read only after submitting, a rule to submit to the SharePoint library, and a rule to submit via email. Most everything is working reasonably well. Here is my problem. It appears that when the emailed form is received, it pulls the template down from the SharePoint location. I don't want the recipient to require access to this library. Is there any way the form can be "compiled" or "converted" so that it is a stand alone document after it is emailed? Thank you Paul

Email submit-type data connections allow you to either send the XML attached to the email, or sending the active view.

It sounds like what you want to do is only send the active view.

I don't understand what you mean by " It appears that when the emailed form is received, it pulls the template down from the SharePoint location". Either the XML form is emailed as an attachment, or the active view is sent within the email's content. But as far as I know there's no option in an email submit to pull down the XML form from the SharePoint form library. Can you explain what's going on? Thanks!

Well, the attachement is an XML document and when I open the attachment, a window flashes that looks like it is downloading something from the SP site. Also, when i try to open the document from a machine that is not on the network, i get an error that it cannot contact the site.  That's why i assumed that it has to pull the layout down from the SP library.

Again, I am a newbie and may be completely confused.

What would sending the "active view" do for me and where is this option?

Ok, I understand, so the scenario is:

    * The XML form is actually being sent via email to the user, but

    * the form has some data connection(s) that contact the server

When you walk thru the data connection wizard, to create the Send email data connection, you should see the option to send the active view only.

I am not seeing any option to send the active view when i step through the email data connection wizard.  This is Infopath 2003. Does that make a difference?

I guess it's possible that the option is not available on IP 2003. I'm on IP 2010. I remember using this email option on IP 2007, but I don't remember whether it is available on IP2003, sorry.
