Browser form opens in browser except...

Got a browser enabled form and all is good.
Add new document - Opens in browser.
Click existing xml - opens in browser

    However
Click on a link to a xml from workflow email - opens in IP
Select an xml in the library and click the edit document button in the ribbon - opens in IP

Anyway to stop the last 2 from happening?

    SP/IP both 2010
Library set to open in browser (not client app)
Form set as web browser enabled
Central admin - form services config set to render in browser

    Hi-

I would suggest comparing the URLs.

When you click on the Add document link in the form library, or when you click on an existing XML, and the form opens in the browser, copy those URLs to Notepad.

Now compare those to the URL sent via email by the workflow. I'm pretty sure that those URLs won't match. You could edit the workflow to force it to send the URL in the correct format.

Let us know what you find. Good luck!

Add new document = Applications%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1 (browser)

Click new document from the ribbon =  = Applications%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1 (browser)

    Workflow = [%Current Item:URL Path%]

Clicking on an existing item = Applications%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1 (browser)

Selecting an existing item and clicking edit button = opens form in infopath (infopath)  <--- This is a problem, why is the edit button ignoring that this is a web enabled form?

Is it the same from all browsers? Which one do you use?

    Also, I couldn't understand:
Are you opening links from Email in browser or from Email client like Outlook and which version of Outlook?

    Jay@Work:

Add new document = Applications%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1 (browser)

Click new document from the ribbon =  = Applications%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1 (browser)

    Workflow = [%Current Item:URL Path%]

I think that SharePoint will always provide the two. If you hover over one specific form, then expand the menu, I think you'll see two options: Edit and Edit with browser. So the option to Edit (in InfoPath) is still there, but the user also has the option to "Edit with browser".

The solution might be to put together a valid URL for opening in the browser, instead of using the %Current Item:URL Path%.

I don't think this is the full URL (Applications%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1) but since you know the full URL, then it should be possible to use concat to store the form's browser URL in a form node, then use that as the link that people click to open the form.

Thanks, our main issue is the edit button on the ribbon as its the most in your face option for the user. Can its default behaviour be changed to match the edit in browser command in the items drop down menu?

More info on the email link problem...

When I hove over the link in the (workflow generated) email I see http://server/site/folder/file.xml
When I click it the form opens in the browser and the address bar reads http://server/site/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=/sites/site/folder/file.xml
    This is good.

However when 2 colleagues click the same link they get the dialogue asking them to open/save. When they select open it opens in infopath.
Not sure why they don't get the same behaviour as myself?
