Hi,
From what I see, the error indicates that a COM component isn't registered.
I went to the component services, however I could not find this COM Component listed here at all.
My Server Details are as follows:
-----------------------------------
- Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
- SharePoint Server 2010 - 14.0.4763.1000
- InfoPath 2007 from MS Office Professional Plus 2007 version 12.0.6215.1000
- Visual Studio 2008 versin 9.0.21022.8 RTM with Microsoft.NET Framework version 3.5 SP1
- IIS version 7.5.7600.16385
.NET Frameworks installed on this Server are:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
C:\windows\microsoft.NET\Framework - V2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0
C:\windows\microsoft.NET\Framework64 - V2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0
My InfoPath solution is a Visual Studio 2008 InfoPath project solution which I have built from scratch. It has code behind to get the list of "approver types" and "approvers" from the sharepoint List and populate it to the repeating table in infopath 2007 form
It also has code to submit the form to the sharepoint library and manually start an existing SharePoint Designer OOTB Approval workflow by invoking the "start workflow" method.
When I ran it, it populated the approvers from the list and allowed me to fill in and submit the form but it hit the "COM Component exception error" as stated above.
So I went and did the following checks:
---------------------------------------------------------
1. Check the application pool for this form hosted in SharePoint and ensured that the "Load User Profile" is set to "True" - It is set to true, so I have ruled this out
2. Try setting the build configuration to x84 from any CPU and ensure to reference the correct dll versions for it - Did this, and it still gave me the COM Component issue, so ruled this out
3. Try setting the build configuration to x64 and ensure to reference the correct dll versions for it - Did this, but got "InfoPath cannot load this form" error. So I checked that my form is code signed in VS 2008 and it warns me that the form will not be code signed and published until I select the certificate and hit the publish button under build menu, so I went ahead and did that and it got published.
I then tried to open the infopath form after publishing from SharePoint itself and it gives me the error that the infopath form dll or one of its dependencies were not configured correctly and that is why its not opening it up for me.
I tried opening the manifest.xsf directly from Infopath itself and that too gives me an error saying something to the effect that 'this form is not signed with the certificate and hence is not openable'.
After reverting the setting back to Any CPU, it opened up fine, so ruled these options out too
4. Try changing the application pool's 'Enable 32-bit Applications' to "True" - This caused the sharepoint web services to stop and only when I changed it back to "False' it was able to retrieve my approvers, so ruled this out too
5. Try changing .NET Framework for application pool to a higher version instead of v2.0 this caused the entire form to error out and load its contents into the Error Message window stating that the .NET framework is incompatible. So I reverted that one back to its original v2.0, so ruled this out too
From what I can see of the above, I really cannot change any of the settings in IIS, nor can I change the build configuration to x64 / x86.
I also do not want to unnecessarily create a SharePoint list just to maintain and track approvers for the infopath forms in order to just let the workflow kick-off automatically and read the values from this additional list.
For now I think the only option will be to get hold of the COM Component and register it somehow.
Does anyone know where I can get a hold of this and what is its name or what's it called?
If any of you have any other ideas that might help me, I would be quite grateful for the help
Thanks - Reema
